Hi,
All of you Brisbane and surrounding area Roos I think it is time for another roos-meet. After talking with Drool we thought a day at the beach would be cool. Not living near the coast I am looking for suggestions of parks with nice shady trees and BBQs (very important thing, BBQs). I am proposing Saturday 20 Feb 2010. Register your interest and even suggest a good place. I promise that we are not weird 3 headed monsters so come along and meet us.
Also we were discussing, somewhat whimsically, the option of making it a day at Wet n Wild. We could hire a Cabana for the day etc. They do allow you to bing in picnics etc. I am not phased since I have a QLD VIP pass and would get in for free so floating the idea as an alternate location, but I am aware of the cost involved.

Sounds like a good idea mmmm yeh wet n wild would be good - though yeh costly. Bit too broke for that at the moment unfortunately. I don't know if Cedar Creek Falls at mt tamborine still has bbq's?? Otherwise that would be a good place as you can go swimming there too. I know that it's hard to get a bbq at mt tamborine in general now though coz many were removed. - College's Crossing past ipswich has swimming and bbqs too. - Southbank - if you're lucky enough to get in early and get a sheltered area with a bbq lol. - River Rocks Park out at Jindalee. Ummmm yeh or the beach in general lol. I think most of these places are at least a half hour drive. Rollcage and myself live near Browns Plains - so the sth side of Brisbane, Logan area.

We have done Rocks Riverside once before, was alright but we got there late and had to make do with a dodgy table.
College's is a definite possibility. I live locally to it (well 20 mins away) so is fine with me.

Just popping this out for the list of considerations.
Bullcock Beach at Caloundra has great picnic / tree copverage and BBQ's, ~flat water Bribie inlet side and surf around the corner at Kings all very convenient.
Not as sure for south coast for shady park overlooking beach type places.
Creek / water hole adventure sounds good also. Riverside was ok but no swim.
More ideas and discussion, all good! (I have to check work for date but pretty sure its ok.)
Nice one Dom Cheers D

Yeh the 'lake' up at Caloundra is nice, and can always go up to the surf if wanted. Roll and I have family up there, so we can spend the night

Not sure if Sunny coast is doable for me. From where I live it is a good couple of hours to get there. We shall see. I may be able to make a day of it.

Bump. Please keep the chatter going. This is less than 3 weeks away. Actually, any objection to moving it by a week to Feb 27?

I popped Caloundra in as I knew a couple of spots, less sure down the coast. Dont mind up, down or west to creek. 20 or 27th.
