I'm rehashing an old post on raid behaviour and the expectation of officers to those of you in the guild as well as your expectations of us. Previously I've discussed raid behaviour, and for those players who are new to the roos, this is a good opportunity to go through a few expectations. Firstly Raid attendance and "Getting in a run!" 1. Size of the roos and regular raiding
- Because of the more casual nature of a guild there is no minimum expectation of attendance.HOWEVER once we are in a raid WE ARE IN A RAID not a cluster ....
[/color] - As many have seen, some weeks we get 35+ for a 25 man raid, other weeks 19 - If you are consistant with the guild in your attendance the officers and raid leaders will do their best to be consistant with you.
- It's noted that there are a number of players who come for the first try of a new boss, and if we don't get the boss down we don't see you again until the boss is on farm! - you know what? this behaviour is piss weak, and if you're wondering why you didn't get a spot on a newly farmed raid or boss, have a think about how much you helped getting to the farm point. - For those who put in the effort, bloody well done and go get your pretty rewards.
- Officers and raid leaders will do their best to ensure everyone gets a go. If you miss out, reminding the officers of this next time (before the Raid is convened) is a good idea.
- leaving the guild in a /temperQuit is not quite as good an idea as the one above - however we are no longer going to try and stop those who do. (GASP!!) Missing raids affects all, and you're all mature enough to be treated with respect for your own decisions. - this includes going to find a guild that will let you in every raid.
2. Raid Etiquette
- Turn up on time. Rocking up 20-30 mins after everyone else and wondering why you're not in is BAD.(Think of it as going for an interview, if you were 20 mins late you probably wont get the job)
- If you are going to be late, but still on time for the start LET SOMEONE KNOW! - as uber as Gob, Pre and the raid leaders are, they can't read your mind and don't know what you're doing in the real world (I know, came as a shock to me too!!)
- Bring what you need. Yes we grab you sometimes out of what you're doing to join, and no one expects you to be prepared if that happens, however, if you want to raid, have pots, have consumables, have chocolate and an energy bar on hand.
- Have the appropriate gear for the instance. I know, I know, I wish the level 80's in epics would take my new level 80 in mostly green and a few blues into ULD, but hey, lets be reasonable, no more free rides ok, get yourself geared, there's a lot of pre 10 and 25 man raid gear for you to get prior to helping out in a big run.
- Be aware of the rank of the raid. - if it say Raider preferred, chances are it's raider preferred (no hidden message there)
- What the officers will endeavour to do - is have the raid group sorted and commenced on time to prevent you waiting around on your pixelated butts for a yes/no answer.
- (little hint here, I look out for the mages that miss out, but who rocked up, were polite, prepared and needed gear and let them have my spot next time - you might not see it, but all class leaders are pretty much the same for those up and coming in the guild)
3. Availability and timeline
- "Um, I gotta go see ya all, goodluck." Since I'm giving out advice - try NOT to do this in the middle of a raid.
- Getting 10-25-40 people together is tough, starting the raid with the right group dynamic is tough, Filling a spot with someone who has to go suddenly, but could have either told the raid or not started the run is not only a waste of EVERYONE'S time, but likely to have to miss out on the next one! (GASP!!!! I KNOW!! - I had to go to bed... come on... but no, seriously, best way to get yourself blacklisted as a waster of everyone's time)
- "Um I gotta go, see ya all, goodluck." - directly after a raid wipe on the first try of a boss - consider another guild. Raiding is about putting in the effort and seeing it through - leaving when it's plainly obvious that you wont get loot in the first 30 mins of a run is just slack, if you think I'm being harsh, please, go make a guild call "We don't gave a Rats about the other 24 people who have to wait 30 mins while they find replacements" and invite all your friends.
- I've brought this up before, the officers have now discussed it and will start making notes of those who let everyone else down - having said this, Real life can easily throw in curlies to your raid time, we understand and a simple explanation is more than adequate, what we're asking is that those times you know you can't see it through, maybe don't take someone's place who can. (and "oh I wasn't sure if I had to go to bed at 9:30 tonight like every other night" doesn't constitute an excuse - be honest with yourself and the guild)
4. General
- Doing your role well. - There will always be someone who DPS's well, Heals like they were born with a heal button instead of a belly button, Tanks so hard it makes a Metal door look soft or Raid assists like a Boy Scout on Speed..
- The Officers and raid Leaders aren't expecting you to be the best in the raid, however if you're doing less than half the DPS of the next nearest of your class, or your heals are only healing paper cuts, maybe talk to your class leader, bring consumables that will help you out, get outta those greens and into some better pre raid gear.
- Roos are about casual raiding and progression. What we are getting tired of is picking some players up by the collar and carrying them through a raid. Feel free to aim for the top of your required duty, if you fall too far short, ask for help, don't cry that no one is doing it for you.
- Come on people!, lets work together to progress, enjoy and look after each other.
- I'm more than happy to discuss - or listen to others comments, if you feel that any of the above is unfair or shouldn't apply to you in a special case, please, let me know, despite what the other nasty officers tell you, Zaap is all kind and all forgiving.
