hi all,

Hit 80 last week and went off to naxx as an enhance and so on.  Got some gear and made a start on understanding shaman healing.

My reading has pretty well skilled me up there.  I was healing KT and botched it (was not at all effective and aided most by not being melee  Undecided)  that said, i learned a lot /bye clique

I had some specifics, i am not worried about skill level re my healing i do need to know some entry I have perceptions on their relative worth driven by method (riptide-lhw-lhw or Chain heal based.

                    RT-LHW    CH
Spell Power         1   1
Mp5                1.0 - 1.6   1.0 - 1.4
Intellect        1.0 - 1.2   0.5-0.8
Haste rating  0.40 - 0.50   0.50 - 0.70
Crit rating        0.70 - 0.90   0.70 - 0.90
from: http://elitistjerks.com/f47/t24796-shaman_restoration/

Which means that +mp5 is universally good and best to stack.  This is obviously more a case of, did you run out of mana?  If yes, get more.

So it turns on are you CH or RT-LHW.  In a Roos raid environment i would imagine a focus on AE and so i go +SP/+Mp5/+int & +crit/+haste
rather than +mp5/+int/+sp/+crit/+haste

numbers:

At any point you feel happy to comment how much of what do i need to:
Heroic/25 Naxx/25 uludar

+Spellpower/+Mp5/+Crit/+haste/+crit/+int

that is all a bit moot, i am trying to figure out how much +heals (and what else) i need to heal a heroic.

I am imagining something like +1800 sp and then whatever else you have is fine.  That the same is true of Naxx 25 and then it is something like +2400 for 25 man Uludar?

I guess im looking for gut feel?  I just dont want to sa 'i am a healer' and then not be geared enough to make it stick.

Well, if it helps at all my shammy's resto set has an an average iLevel of 207.6, putting it somewhere between full Naxx10 and full Naxx25 gear.  Stats are +1982 heals/25.12% crit/465 haste/309 mana regen, no buffs.  Still missing a couple of gems which I'd probably drop into throughput since mana regen hasn't been a problem last time I took him for a spin (KT 25, iirc).  The rookie errors I made starting out as a resto shammy that affected my usefulness were forgetting weapon enchants and to keep water and earth shield up.

I guess with healing heroics... it depends on your tank.  Run with one of the guild's MTs and you could probably get away with greens and non-80 blues.  That said there are some super-cheap level 78-80 blues (bracers, helm, wrists, shoulders, gloves) on the AH for resto/ele shammies that would be a good place to start.  If you're a bit more flush with cash you could grab the Revenant's pieces from leatherworking.  Wispcloak from a tailor isn't a bad option for a cloak.

Thanks for the numbers Krakk that actually helps a ton.  I was losing heart, my spell power is in the mid 1300's at the moment but that has me wearing about 6 pieses of dps gear (no spell power at all)

My plan was to go to Naxx 25 on Friday with him as an enhance and see what i win and then fill the gaps with bought stuff and a badge item (ill have  enough by then or very close)

By then also ill be able to buy a hi ilevel pvp piece for honor points and then ill go enchant everything with cheap stuff unless the item is a 'keeper' etc.

I put an epic SP gem into a leather belt by mistake *oops*.

I think that after that i might wash out at something like + 1700 sp.  From what you mention that will get me there (as it should of course) after all at release of WOTLK people were running heroics wit far less of course Smiley

looking forward to it!

Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is the probable reason why so few engage in it.
